A system by which an exchange or other institution enters into the relationship between a buyer and a seller as a contact partner and arranges for the settlement of trades. The process of exchanging financial transaction data between an acquirer and an issuer to enable posting of the transaction to the cardholder's account and reconciling the member's position to the settlement association.
